Early bird park entry is also available 30 minutes before Volcano Bay opens. If you’re planning a trip to Universal Orlando Resort, here’s what you need to know about Early Park Admission!
Universal Orlando Annual Passholders and guests staying at Universal Orlando Hotels receive Early Access to the Park. Early Park Admission, or EPA, is included with your stay and each guest must have a valid hotel room key. Annual passholders must also present a valid UOAP to the EPA.

Always be sure to check the Universal Orlando app or site to see which parks are opening early. Sometimes both parks have an early park, but other times, only one park opens early.
Best Tips For Vacationing At Universal Studios
There’s no way to buy an Early Park Ticket unless you upgrade your ticket to an Annual Pass, but there are still ways to start your day. Guests who do not have early park admission will be able to enter the theme park gates, but will not be able to enter any additional parks or attractions. Gift shops and some food locations, including Starbucks, are open in front of each park to grab a quick bite to eat and then wait for the park’s official ropeway to open.
At Universal Studios Florida, the Park Early Entry checkpoint is located between New York and San Francisco, where you’ll find team members ready to check your ticket or room key. Diagon Alley is open for Early Park Admission, so grab a Butterbeer, pick a wand (or pick a wand) and board Escape from Gringotts. The Leaky Cauldron is also open for breakfast or you can always stop by Florean Fortescue’s ice cream shop. If you wake up early on vacation, you deserve to enjoy ice cream for breakfast!
At Islands of Adventure, guests who do not have early Park admission can wait in the Port of Entry area or at Seuss Landing. This will also give you an advantage over the guests waiting outside the doors! You can line up at Marvel Super Hero Island for the park’s official jump rope or head to the waiting area at Seuss Landing.
The Wizarding Worlds of Harry Potter and VelociCoaster are open at the Early Park Entrance and you must travel to Seuss Landing and the Lost Continent to get there. Guests without EPA can stay right and wait at Seuss Landing, while guests with Early Park Admission can take a shortcut through Green Eggs and Ham.

We are here! Now it’s a difficult decision whether to go on the VelociCoaster on the bridge or head to the growing line for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Here’s a tip! If you plan to ride Hagrid, the queue is usually on the lost continent. Don’t make the mistake of running down this line to get onto the actual attraction or you’ll be back at the start of the barricades. There are signs and Team Members to help guide you too.
If hiking isn’t your thing, this is also a great opportunity to take great photos all over the land. Perform wand magic, take pictures in front of Hogwarts Castle or grab a pumpkin pie from Honeydukes and enjoy the magic of the park before opening day.
You can also go over the bridge to Jurassic Park, but you won’t get past the wait time sign for the VelociCoaster. If you’re hoping to ride the Blue Raptor Encounter or River Adventure, you can wait at the barricades for the park’s official opening.
It is important to note that early bird parking is not always offered at both parks. As another reminder, you’ll want to check the Universal Orlando app for park hours and to see which park or parks open early.

We start with tips and tricks to discover while planning your vacation at home, then move on to tricks for when you’re at the theme parks.
However, it’s worth it if you’re going to the theme parks in two or three days.
If you’re going to be at the theme park for four days or more, I don’t recommend buying the pass. Unless you really hate standing in line.
The Express Pass is an additional cost to your theme park ticket. When you start adding up the two costs, it can get really expensive!

Just as buying an Express Pass in advance saves money, buying tickets before arriving at Universal Orlando Resort also saves money.
Discount ticket sellers, such as Get Away Today, will be able to officially sell you tickets with a small advance ticket.
Remember, there are reputable ticket agencies and then there are shady businesses that resell unused tickets, which may be illegal and a waste of money for you. Be careful who you work with.

I can’t tell you how many people I’ve seen sad because they can’t ride the Hogwarts Express because they only bought tickets at a park.
The Hogwarts Express is one of the signature rides in the world of Harry Potter. And it’s one of those rides that isn’t fast or jarring for people with mobility issues and back problems.
However, you can only ride the Hogwarts Express between Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure theme parks.
Tips And Tricks For Early Park Admission At Universal Orlando Resort
To ride the train there must be a parking lot. You cannot have a ticket for one park and take a train to another theme park and not enter. It doesn’t work that way. Your tickets will be scanned before entering the queue.

The theme parks, including Disney World and SeaWorld, are crowded on weekends when people visit when they are off work.
Monday through Thursday are some of the best days to visit Universal Studios. There may be some people on Monday, because some people have a three-day weekend, including Monday.

If possible, avoid going to any theme park on holiday weekends or all summer long.

Even if you want to avoid holiday weeks and weekends, you can still enjoy the magic of a theme park vacation.
For example, Universal decorates for Christmas before Thanksgiving. After the week of Thanksgiving, the crowds thin out significantly. So if you travel in the first week of December, you can enjoy the decorations and holiday events without the crowds that come later in the month.

It also works for spring and summer. Consider the week before Memorial Day weekend a good shoulder time to visit. The weeks leading up to spring break also have wonderful weather and fewer crowds.

For example, on Halloween Horror Nights, a theme park closes early to host the night’s events. This means you don’t get much money these days because you have to leave early. Also, some theme parks are more crowded at night because everyone goes there to visit after being kicked out of Universal Studios.
