Top 10 Tourist Destinations Switzerland – Switzerland’s most beautiful places range from towns and villages in the mountains to holiday towns on lakes and rivers. But which places in Switzerland are the most beautiful? Read on to find out!
Located in the heart of Central Europe, Switzerland has some of the most beautiful places and places to visit. Its name conjures up thoughts of luxury watches, big banks, and soft chocolate, but there’s more to Switzerland than that. Multiple.
Top 10 Tourist Destinations Switzerland
From the historic towns and cities surrounded by snow-capped mountains to the cleanest rivers and lakes in the world, Switzerland is a country where the taste of speed is not enough. Its spectacular mountain views, delicious food, and beautiful towns and cities are worth it, and always leave you wanting to come back for more.
Must See Places In Switzerland
Of course, it will cost you a pretty penny to complete your Switzerland adventure, but it’s worth it to experience this fascinating country. So bring your camera and your love, let’s see the most beautiful places in Switzerland.
Next to its mountains and old city walls, Lucerne is the most important Swiss city. It is full of sights and attractions, packed with everything you would expect in a beautiful Swiss city.
Lucerne has a postcard-worthy lake, Lake Lucerne, and a beautiful covered bridge, the Kapellbrücke. These viewpoints offer a spectacular view between the towering mountains. In addition, Lucerne is a famous shopping destination, where you can buy (expensive) postcards showing all of the above.
Sometimes, it feels overwhelming that a place can be too beautiful (and too crowded). What makes a trip to Lucerne even more magical than tourists is the overnight stay. There are a lot of day-trippers here, but if you want to stay a night or two (I paid $30/night for a long-term hostel, which is really the best in Switzerland), then you will have everything to your body is the morning and evening moon.

Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge) is a wooden covered bridge built in 1333. It is one of the oldest wooden bridges in the world.
During the day, consider day trips to places like Mt. Pilatus to experience another side of Lucerne, avoiding the many tourists who go to the old town. Mt Pilatus (6,982 feet / 2,128 m) overlooking Lucerne is an Alpine landscape. It is definitely worth going there when the weather permits!
Tip: don’t book your tickets to Mount Pilatus in advance. Make sure the weather cooperates, otherwise you won’t be able to see much from the top.
If you’re looking for a ghost town with a mountain atmosphere and breathtaking views, look no further than Lucerne and Mt. Pilatus, two beautiful places in the heart of Switzerland.
Switzerland In Winter: The Beautiful Places To Go
Zermatt is a famous ski town at the foot of one of the most famous mountains in the world, the Matterhorn. Like all beautiful places in Switzerland, Zermatt comes with a high price tag. But it’s worth every Swiss Franc to see the distant snow-capped mountains, beautiful resorts, and beautiful houses that surround the car-free city.
On the trip to Zermatt, the star of the show is undoubtedly the Matterhorn, which stands at 14,692 feet (4,478m). I first saw the Matterhorn on mature Toblerone chocolate bars, so it was surreal to finally see it up close!
The Matterhorn is one of the most beautiful mountains in the world and one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland.
For me, seeing the Matterhorn is a dream! After being covered in clouds and rain for hours, I was sure that I, like many tourists who spend a day or two in Zermatt, will not see this great mountain. I realized that the closest thing I could find was the Chocolate Matterhörnli that I ate at lunch. Then, when I least expected it, the clouds cleared and the Matterhorn revealed itself in full glory. How impressive!

Bern is the capital of Switzerland and a great starting point for exploring the Bernese Alps. It is also the perfect stop for those looking for Swiss history, culture, and architecture. Therefore, it is not surprising that this is one of the top places to visit in Switzerland.
Located on the banks of the Aare River, Bern’s Old Town is a great place for a walk. It dates back to the late 1100s, making it a valuable UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Scattered around its empty streets are several 16th-century fountains that are unassuming and unassuming but add a charming touch to the Old Town. Bern Minster, or the Gothic cathedral, is another amazing sight that you can’t (and shouldn’t) miss. In the center, you will find two famous towers, Zytglogge and Käfigturm, which take you back centuries.
The best time of year to visit Switzerland (including Bern) is during the summer, when you can swim down the President River. Take the train to Uttigen, and from there, start your boat ride on the Aare with amazing views of the snow-capped mountains. The trip to Bern is about 2.5 hours, which gives you plenty of time to relax, sunbathe, and go swimming in the turquoise alpine waters (which some think is clean enough to drink). It’s definitely a great summer job. President is the best lazy river imaginable!

Near the capital is a town called Grindelwald, the gateway to the Jungfrau region. It is one of the most beautiful places in Switzerland, where you will find many opportunities for hiking, climbing and skiing.
Grindelwald wants my mind, and I think he will give it too! The sight of snow-capped mountains, happy (and noisy) cows, and alpine air is enough to give me an adrenaline rush. Then, there was a mountain buggy and a motorcycle down the hill… amazing!
