Port Douglas has the world’s largest reef system and ancient rainforest to explore. What more could you ask for? Our girls loved snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef, ziplining above the Daintree rainforest canopy, playing on beautiful beaches, looking for wild crocodiles on riverboat cruises, and enjoying the amazing fruit trees in the rainforest.

Bali has become one of our favorite family travel destinations over the past couple of years. There’s a perfect mix of beaches and culture, and there’s always something to do, from attending festivals (which always seem to be the same) to visiting water parks to rice paddies.
The weather is warm throughout the year, although the rainy season (November to March) seems perfect. The food is very good and cheap. My 10 year old son’s favorite restaurant in the world is Kuka near Jimbaran Beach.

It was in hotels on the beach, but we also stayed in villas with private pools overlooking the river valleys and villas surrounded by rice fields. Although there are many tourists every year, Bali never feels like a tourist. Ubud holds a very cool and artistic atmosphere. There’s also a monkey forest – what kid doesn’t want to be surrounded by monkeys?
