Fun & Unique Things To Do In Quezon City
Bonding with your child and creating fond childhood memories doesn’t have to be expensive. Something as simple as taking them to the park, playing with a ball or toy, or going on a picnic can give them lasting memories that will last well into adulthood.
My teenage son tells me he remembers taking him to the zoo many times, playing with cars and balls, singing and dancing. He said he was always loved and felt completely. I knew then that I was doing the right thing and today I want to continue doing it for my little ones. So one day we decided to take them to the Quezon Memorial Club for a picnic.
When I got there I remembered what it was like to go there as a child and teenager. I have fond memories of that place and it made me feel like I did the right thing by taking it there last weekend. I am happy to see that Quezon Memorial Club now has more for all members of the family to enjoy and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Let me share some with you.
1. Picnic – Whether you’re headed there for a breakfast picnic or evening merienda, bring those mats and snacks or use their free picnic tables to share a meal with loved ones under the shade of mature trees. Enjoy a good meal and laugh with your family as you see the smiles on other people’s faces as they spend time with family and friends.

2. Jogging/Jogging/Zumba/Yoga – Jog or run on the elliptical near the monument, or run in a full circle, get some exercise with your family or with your running buddies on health and wellness days. Morning or evening is the best time to run there.
3. Use hand equipment to exercise – There are various equipment around the park. Use them liberally to tone or define (if done regularly) your upper body, lower body muscles. You just have to wait your turn. Don’t worry as there are many devices, you won’t have to wait long.
4. BBQ – Surprisingly, we saw a number of BBQ grills/grill pits around the park for those who want to have a simple BBQ or a small gathering. Spend quality time with the family and enjoy freshly baked pork or chicken skewers or pork or grilled marinated steak and fries.
5. Take the kids to the playground – Take your kids to the enclosed outdoor playground where you’ll find plenty of heavy duty slides/swings/bar sets. All the playgrounds have grass-like mats, so they’re safe for kids, so kids won’t get hurt easily when they fall, trip, or roll on the floor, as they’re busy playing and running around at the same time. Be sure to pack extra clothes, towels to wipe off sweat and water to refresh yourself, because surely, this is where the real fun will be for them.

6. Bazaar – While the kids play in the playground, moms/dads look around and win super prizes for clothes, shoes, cell phones/gadgets and more at the picnic and bazaar area outside the playground.
7. Plant Shopping – I’ve seen celebrities and my mommy blogger/vlogger friends shop here for indoor and outdoor plants. You will also find many succulents that you can use for party/wedding favors or home decor. Sunflowers, Malaysian mums and other flowers are also available. Up to 500 pp per pot. You can buy plants at low prices. At some of the stands you will see flower pots and planting or garden plants. It is located next to the playground and also outside the playground and picnic area.
8. Visit the museum/president’s tomb. Manuel L. Quezon – If you want to experience some history, a visit to the Quezon City Memorial Club will give you that experience. Near the parking lot, you will find some museums for your viewing pleasure. If you’re the type of person who likes to learn by looking at art and learning some historical facts, you’re in for a treat!
9. Family Photography – As with any park, you are free to use your photography here, as long as it is for personal use. Come with your photographer friends, whether professional or amateur, show your beautiful teeth, or give the lens a different look, mood or angle, trees, blue sky, grass and wide background. Shoot your image during golden hour to get good natural light.

10. Breathtaking – If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of city life, come to Quezon City Memorial Club for a much-needed break and a deep breath away from the stress and anxiety in your respiratory system. Come here at sunset or when the LED lights on the fountains or monuments are lit up and relax, take in the views and let your mind wander from a stressful schedule or event. Meditate, breathe and pray while enjoying the refreshing breeze in the circle.

Getting here is easy from Quezon Ave., North Ave., Commonwealth Ave. Drive until you reach the oval and you will immediately see the tall statue. Entrance or parking is only Php 15.00 if you’re driving, and if you’re traveling, just trust your Grab driver or tap a friendly app called Waze to guide you and the taxi driver through easy navigation. Jeepneys and buses are also accessible. You can search for apartments in Quezon City that allow you to stay a night or more for easy access to the Quezon Memorial Circle.
Likewise, making new memories with your family, especially with kids, doesn’t have to be expensive. The key is to make time, make time and always be there (just use your phone to take pictures, post later!) Quezon Memorial Circle is just one of those places where your family can go without breaking the bank.
