The Ultimate Worldpackers Ireland Travel Guide
There are plenty of hotels to choose from in the city, but if you get the chance, we recommend staying at the Powerscourt Resort, just outside the city center. Part of the Marriott Autograph Collection, this grand complex features huge, beautifully decorated rooms (stunning apartment size) with stunning garden views through floor-to-ceiling windows. The complex offers golf, swimming, horseback riding, spa, gym and more.
Golf carts can be rented to tour and tour the extensive grounds. Directly above the hotel is the famous Powerscourt Estate and Gardens, a very popular tourist attraction. We enjoyed our stay here. An amazing daily buffet breakfast was included with the stay and the kids loved strolling through the gardens and feeding the resident horses. It’s an easy 30-minute drive to downtown.
If shopping is your hobby, don’t miss Grafton Street. You can find fun places like souvenir shops, bookstores, department stores, and my personal favorite, avocado. If you like Anthropologie, this is the Irish version with multiple layers of benefits. There are also restaurants and all kinds of delicious food. Don’t miss out!
Grafton Street is a beautiful park in the heart of the city, St. It ends at Stephen’s Green. After shopping, take a stroll through the park and escape the hustle and bustle of Grafton Street.
Travel Guide: Dublin, Ireland
St. Patrick’s Cathedral is another must-see attraction in Dublin. It was built around 1220 AD. Yes, you may have read that I said 1220. It is the largest cathedral in Ireland and one of the most famous churches in the world. Admission is a very reasonable $6.50 and you can stay as long as you like. Don’t forget to stroll through the beautiful outside gardens.
The Temple Bar district is fun and lively, especially on weekend nights. You’ll see roaming hordes of youngsters dressed as goblins celebrating bachelor parties and the like. Live music and crowds create a party atmosphere and make for a great people-watching scene. There are also several fast-casual restaurants in the area where you can enjoy a light dinner.
Walk along the river and browse the shops and restaurants along Henry Street and Talbot Street. Stop by Gelato in Suso on O’Connell Street. It’s an Italian favourite, which we were lucky enough to find in Dublin as well.
Dublin Castle lies between St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the Temple Bar district. Stop by Leo Burdock’s for fish and chips and take it with you to eat at the castle.
